Food Blog | Picnic C'est Chic Weekend Brunch at Brasserie Boulud | Dubai

I love Brasserie Boulud. I love the vibes, I love the food, and I love the service too! You can see my full review of their business lunch offering over here! But this post is intended to showcase their offering for their new Saturday brunch, their Picnc C’est Chic offering!

Frankly, I think it is a really cool concept. It’s to the point where I think some people might even order a picnic basket and go on a picnic outside one of these days before Dubai transitions to its colder wintery period.

Here’s a snippet from their Instagram page to get you excited!

Where it Is

This is one of those restaurants where you will have to go a fair distance for, given it’s near Wafi Mall but what I’ll say is that it is pretty worth the trip! You can either park at Wafi Mall or leave your car in the hands of their chauffeur services - free of charge if you’re a guest at the restaurant.

The whole place is also very nicely decorated in accordance to the theme!

Weekend Brunch Operating Hours

The weekend brunch operates every Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. I highly recommend you make a reservation before visiting, because it is usually quite packed on the day it is offered. You can make reservations by clicking this link right over here!

What it Costs

Their pricing is as per the following:

- AED 195 food and non-alcoholic beverages
- AED 349 food and unlimited house beverages
– AED 85 for kids below 12 years old

The bill for 3 came up to AED585 (non-alcoholic), so everything is already accounted for, including 7% municipality fee, 10% service charge and 5% VAT.

The way the menu works is that it is quite similar to other weekend brunches in Dubai. You have a big selection of starters and you have a selection of main courses and a selection of desserts. They will serve you one portion of everything in their menu - so you don’t even have to think about what to order - only what you might want to order another portion of.

With regard to what they will give you another portion of, my interpretation of this is that they will give you one extra portion of each dish - or thereabouts. Strictly speaking, I think it’s a fairly reasonable policy given the value you get from the experience, service, and the food.

The menu is the following:

How it Tastes

Now, onto the taste test. The following refers to what you will be served if you come as a party of 3!

Lots of delicious goodness in there!

First up is their hamper - or picnic basket! All of your picnic necessities are there. Here’s what you get when you open it up further:

The spread for the picnic!

Here’s what you get when you open up the basket. Lots of dips, condiments, and even cheese to give you the perfect picnic brunch after a long week! They all taste really fresh and I particularly liked the salmon (the one that is above the bottom right jar.

I think the condiments are great as well - the variety is probably the reason why this is really nice. You get to indulge in a lot of refreshing flavours ranging from cheese to a cucumber salad, to a delicious apricot jam.

Closeup of the cheese! Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but the variety offered in the entire menu is amazing!

They give you more than enough bread to enjoy - and as I’ve mentioned in my previous review, their bread is so good. Crunchy, warm, absolutely delicious sourdough baguette that goes perfect for a weekend picnic brunch!

Charcuterie Board of the week

Not least forgetting the charcuterie board! They definitely don’t forget those who really enjoy their meat - and this is the final warmup for the main dishes! Overall, it’s almost weird to say, but I feel like the star of the show is actually this portion: the breads, charcuterie board and their assortment of dips. And I say it without wanting to diminish the mains at all! It just feels like exactly what you want from a weekend picnic themed brunch.

Here are the dishes for the mains!

Mains

In keeping with the picnic feeling, the meats offered from their barbecue are presented on a neat meat board. I wouldn’t say that there is one that really stands out as a “wow” dish, but I think their “wow” factor is mainly from their starters - as I said before. But the mains are still pretty yummy.

I would think that most people might go for a second helping of their grilled lamb chop. I would say that it probably was my favourite among the meats. The accompanying dishes are also really good - and as again, the strength in variety of dishes really shows. I think there really is something for everybody given the sheer variety of dishes offered.

And to finish off the meal, some summery desserts perfect for a picnic.

Molten Dark Chocolate Cake

Seasonal Fruit Tart

I really loved their desserts. My only bad comment would be that I feel that maybe they should serve their molten chocolate cake on a plate itself - like the fruit tart. (this is more an aesthetic complaint haha - but I honestly don’t have an issue with it)

But their desserts are all very carefully selected and go well together. Taste-wise, I really loved all of it. From the sweet decadence of the Tarte aux Fruits de Saisons, to the luxurious molten chocolate cake, to the selections of jams for your desserts. Absolutely yummy!

Star Rating

9/10. I honestly think that this is definitely worth at least a try. Conceptually it is definitely quite different to your regular weekend brunch concept - and I would say price-wise, it is more than competitive. I would say the starting and ending picnic baskets are the stars of the show - and despite that, I have no issues saying that I enjoyed the main dishes as well!

I would say that this leaves you a comfortable full (I say this without having ordered extra portions) - some weekend brunches leave you walking out almost sick to your stomach.

The service is great, and the vibes are nice! There’s a prop on our table (a shame that I didn’t capture it) that is almost Alice in Wonderland-esque - it was a rabbit! But all this aside, I think it’s definitely worth a try for a Saturday brunch!
