Food Blog | CK Bistro | Brighton

A few snippets from my Brighton trip are coming up next on my blog, and the first one is CK Bistro! This is a comfy and homely spot my girlfriend found in Brighton and one that I thoroughly enjoyed on our short trip to the seaside town. Here’s what I thought of CK Bistro!

Where It Is

There are actually two branches of the restaurant in this area - one in Brighton itself and the other branch further west in Hove, so just make sure you head to the one more convenient for you! The one that i went to is the one in Brighton (or Queen’s Road)!

Address: 23 Queens Rd, Brighton BN1 3XG, United Kingdom

Operating Hours: Daily 12 pm - 9.30 pm

One thing I want to mention is that one thing I love about this place is how homely you will feel here. The staff here almost treat you like family - especially if you speak Cantonese - and I can see it from both my personal experience and the tables next to me. It really has that typical Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng feel. My initial thought was that it was like a more homely Kim Gary - a large menu, Hong Kong feels.

What it Costs

Me and my girlfriend’s bill was the following:

3 Topping Custom Noodle - 7.95 pounds
Pork Chop Baked Rice - 10.50 pounds
Iced Lemon Tea - 3.50 pounds

Total Bill: 21.95 pounds

No additional charges, and all menu prices are net of any taxes/additional charges at time of eating. You can take a look at the full menu here: (prices may not be indicative of what they are currently) These are sourced from the CK Bistro Facebook page.

How It Tastes

One thing I want to stress about this review is that the food is yummy, but not mind-blowingly delicious. It is the homely factor that makes this a nice spot to eat in Brighton.

First up, the CK Special Pork Chop Baked Rice. Initially, the staff actually came up to us and just checked if it was not too burnt for our liking. I will admit, the photo I took might not do it justice, but I actually like it when it is a little burnt - it gives it that crispiness from the cheese! The pork chop is actually really nice and tender and complements the combination of the tomato, cheese, and rice really well. Actually super yummy!

The second dish we had is actually a custom noodle. You can choose the number of toppings you want - we chose 3 (but you can also choose 4) - and the soup base you want. As you can see above, you have spicy options, hot and sour options, and a tomato option. We went with the tomato soup base. Our toppings were the prawn & pork dumplings, fish tofu, and beef brisket.

Noodles are springy and well-cooked, the tomato soup is a really simple soup that would make the perfect tomato soup on a cold and windy day, and I really liked the beef brisket with the tomato soup (maybe because I’m a beef brisket fan in general, but I digress). I would still say that I think that the cheese-baked rice is probably the safer choice for picky eaters - even though I really liked the noodles as well.

Star Rating

8/10. I want to stress this again. This high rating comes more from authenticity, homeliness, and a decent meal - the combination of which makes it my favorite spot in Brighton I had in my 3 days there. A really nice spot to have a meal with all your favorite dishes from Hong Kong!
