Review | Cycling at Putrajaya | KL EBike Rental

If you’re looking for a date idea/something to do in the KL area (well, it’s a bit of a drive from the KL area, but you get the point) that won’t break the bank, I think today’s post will be good for this! Will be sharing my experience over the weekend of cycling at Putrajaya and renting bicycles from KL Ebike Rental!

How to Get There

To be frank, I think the easiest way would be to set your GPS to KL Ebike Rental itself. There’s free parking at the big roundabout where the big “Putrajaya” sign is located facing the mosque. You’ll see a lot of buses in the area if you’re coming later, so you’ll know if you’re there! Once you get there, you’ll need to find an elevator to go down (the bicycle rental area is a floor below) and then take a left and you’ll be able to see the bicycles in plain view.

Operating Hours:

Weekdays: 8am - 8pm
Weekends: 7am - 10pm

Otherwise, you can use the location as per below:

What it Costs

There are many different options - although I’m not sure how many bikes there actually are. We got there at around 8 am and we took the last set of City Bikes (as per the picture below). I’m not sure if they actually have other bicycles hidden inside, but it seemed like that was the last of the city bikes, and others had to go for other options like the foldable electric /electric/hybrid bicycle options.

City Bike KL Ebike Putrajaya (RM10 / hour)

We didn’t have to declare how long we were riding beforehand, so in that sense, I like it because it’s kind of stress-free. Come back when you feel like it, and pay as per how much you ride. The city bikes were RM10 per hour, RM10 per hour for your second hour, and RM5 for every subsequent hour.

Hybrid and folding bikes were RM15, RM10 (second hour), RM5 (subsequent hour), and their folding e-bike was RM20 per hour. They’re pretty reasonable in the sense that the start time they give you is a few minutes after you actually start, and they give you a grace period of 15 minutes or so before they charge you by the half-hour.

For RM10, you get a City Bike for 1 hour, a sanitized helmet, bottles of cold/room temperature water as desired (which you can place in your pouch at the front of your city bag), and even a nice badge on completion. In my case, someone was trying to pick up learning how to bicycle, so the city bike was actually pretty fine for that - although I would definitely consider recommending their electric bicycles just so you can see a lot more of Putrajaya, because it genuinely looks like a place that is really fun to explore, and you’ll definitely see a lot more with their electric bicycles.

The Experience

The staff was great, the bicycle was decent, and I think Putrajaya on the day we went was actually a really nice place to cycle. Pretty quiet, pretty okay to pick up cycling if you find the right place. However, you should definitely check the weather report before heading on over to Putrajaya just in case. There’s a straight road when you exit to the left of the bicycle renting area that you can use to get to the cycling pathway. That’s kind of where we made sure that both of us could cycle using that bike first before getting moving.

They also offer a few different cycling routes to try - as per the map below. To be honest, I never really could orientate myself fully to the different areas, just because our objective was more to make sure we could cycle on the day, but it’s just here for reference.

Cycling Routes to Take

I think overall, this is a really nice experience. RM10 for a decent bicycle and everything else included, coupled with free parking, and a really nice area in Putrajaya make it a great place for you to spend your weekend mornings/evenings!
