Food Blog | Tasixi Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurant (大四喜香港点心楼) | Taman Perling

This week’s blog post is for my personal favourite for Dim Sum ini JB, Tasixi (or 大四喜香港点心楼)! This is a pretty neat place with a lot of Dim Sum to satisfy your cravings.

Context: Came for ‘brunch’ with my girlfriend and what I’ll say is that first: we were hungry & second: this is way too much for two people (which we realised after everything was already on the table XD), so just keep that in mind.

Is it Halal?

No, this is a non-halal eatery with pork in a lot of their dishes, so I highly WOULDN’T recommend coming here in huge groups with Muslim company. (Eat at your own discretion, as always)

Where it Is?

It is located near the highway at Taman Perling (but there are two other branches at Taman Impian Emas & Taman Johor Jaya - the addresses will be listed below). The parking here can get a bit difficult (and I believe that you actually have to put coupons by right, but by the way everyone parks here, I don’t think that it is a heavily patrolled area XD.

I’ve tried the one at the Eco Botanic area and I will admit its pretty clean and tidy for a dim sum restaurant with quality just as good as the one in Perling. :)

What it Costs

Here’s just an outline of what you need to know about eating here.

Don’t order all at once! (by that I mean don’t take the first thing you see - it’s much better to wait and see everything available).

First up, you’ll order things like Paus and Chee Cheong Fan (basically paus or the things that are made on tthe spot in the kitchen. Then, you’ll have around 3/4 rounds of waiters bringing around trays of food. Each one of these 3 rounds are slightly different - which is why I tell you not to take everything from the first tray XD (kind of what we did).

Yam & Pork Tasixi Restaurant

The last one that you’ll want to know about is the dessert tray. Not much on offer, we basically took one each of both the desserts available, so look below!

The cost of our brunch came up to RM63.70 (but as I mentioned, we overordered XD) - so I would say an average person eating here would be around RM25/pax.

(We got cheaper drinks - barley & chinese tea).

How it Tastes

In general, most of the dim sum here is pretty tasty, so I wouldn’t particularly say there are ‘must order’ items when you come here, but for me, I actually really enjoyed the Polo Pau (or the Yellow Bun thing beside the Carrot Cake) because the pastry has a nice texture!

But I also liked their Yam + Pork (but more so probably because I like the dish in general) and the rest of the dim sums in general are quite solid.

But what I’ll say is don’t order the desserts here XD. The egg dessert is so eggy (sorry, but I don’t have any other way to describe it) to the point where you get a little bit sick of eating it after a few spoonfuls. The herbal jelly is on the meh side.

Star Rating

7/10. A solid Dim Sum place with a lot of options! Quite simple really, I feel as though you guys will probably get more out of this review from the pictures. XD
