Food Blog | Toast & Roast | SS2 Petaling Jaya

Today I’m sharing another find on the Burpple app, Toast & Roast SS2 Petaling Jaya, and my oh my, this place is a pretty darn great place to go for a nice hearty breakfast.

Update (13/01/2021): Updated where you can see their menu and delivery options for this 2021 MCO period in the “What it Costs” section.

Context: Came here alone for the first time for a brunch. Not going to lie, on first impression, it didn’t look like it would be enough to fill me up till dinner, but my oh my it did. This is going to be a shorter review than usual because this is based on one dish.

Is it Halal?

No. Just no. This is just about one of the most non-halal places I’ve been to in my life. Eat at your own discretion if you’re concerned about this.

What this Restaurant is All About

I researched a bit and they’re basically all about their Hakka Noodles and roasted meats. They also have those ‘Chicken Rice’ shop options - like Chicken Rice, Char Siew Rice, etc.

Where it Is

On the day I went, the parking is pretty hard to find - and not to mention once I was done with my brunch, a whole bunch of cars were saman-ed, so be mindful of that in this area. I parked a bit further up the road on some kind of bridge and I managed to avoid being saman-ed. XD (basically slightly south of what you see on the map)

Address: 20, Jalan SS 2/72, Seksyen 19, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Operating Hours:

Daily: 8:30am - 4pm (Tuesdays off)

What it Costs

Their signature is basically Hakka noodles with whatever toppings you like. I had the Hakka Noodles with Char Siew with an additional topping of Siew Yoke. My version (which you can see in the photos) costs RM13.20, but it is basically RM8.20 for Char Siew Hakka Noodles and RM5 for the additional RM5 for the Siew Yoke.

I also got a Iced Milo, so my total came up to RM17 (with taxes and other things all added up). To give you an idea of what it costs you should check out their website right here or you can search “Toast & Roast - SS2” on GrabFood!

E-wallet options are available here.

How it Tastes

First thing that will catch your attention will definitely be the fat on their meats. SO DO BEWARE if you don’t like fatty meats - do tell them so they can give you leaner cuts, but I feel like if you come here, come here to sin!

That meat is so luscious, for a lack of a better word. Really meaty and honestly I think it is super worth to get BOTH the char siew and the siew yoke.

The noodles also make a perfect medium to eat the meats with because they have this nice springiness to them. But overall, I LOVE the combination of meats plus noodles.

Star Rating

7.5/10. A solid 7.5, and it probably is the high(er) price point that meant that I didn’t rate it higher. I honestly LOVE the taste of their meats and noodles and this is definitely one of those places to come once in a while to treat yourself to a really hearty brunch!
