Food Blog | Clay Dubai | Bluewaters Island | Dubai

Restaurant week in Dubai means a chance to try all sorts of delightful eats around Dubai! One of those that I’ve tried recently is Clay Dubai! It’s a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant that serves delicious food and I can’t wait to show it to you guys!

Of course, I need to clarify that this is their Dubai Restaurant Week 2023 menu - and by the time you’re reading this, it may not be available - but at time of writing, they are preparing to unveil their brand new business lunch menu starting after Dubai Restaurant Week - so do look out for that!

Where it Is

Clay Dubai is located on Bluewaters Island - near the Dubai Eye. There is free parking in the form of valet here (right outside the restaurant, near Madame Tussauds Dubai) - need to validate at the lobby of Clay Dubai, so just take note of that. You can make booking for Clay Dubai (regardless if it is for restaurant week) here!

What it Costs

What you’ll see on this food blog is their set lunch for the Dubai Eats festival. It is an AED125 set lunch - no added charges on top - and it comes with a choice of either a starter and a main or a main and a dessert. It also comes with a bottle of house water (which is really helpful in Dubai).

You can see the menu right over here! For reference, I came here with a group of 4 - and we had 2 portions of the Niku Bao, 1 Nikkei Cebiche, 2 Seabass, 2 Yakitori, and 1 Miso Brulee.

How it Tastes

In short, the food here is good. Like seriously good - and I enjoyed every course served to us. Dishes here are good for sharing - 1 portion of Niku Bao is actually 2 baos and the dishes in general are quite good for sharing (rice dishes, cerviche, etc.).

Niku Bao

First up, the Niku Bao. A really nice bao - lots of flavour and I really liked the combination of the more meaty elements from the shortrib combined with the almost cerviche, acidic (in a good way, to balance the meat) criolla salad - which is almost a signature of my Peruvian food experiences. A really nice bao.

Nikkei Ceviche

Next up, we had the Nikkei Ceviche. I loved the fact that these pieces of tuna are really big chunks - with fatty elements - and the sauce that accompanies this dish is just oh so good.

Yakitori

For the mains, I enjoyed both of them, but I think my favourite was definitely the yakitori with the fried rice. The chicken was absolutely cooked to perfection, fantastic flavour - although it is a bit more on the salty end (I love these kinds of food, so that’s alright for me). It also comes with a delicious and fragrant fried rice - which makes sure that you’re full-up from this meal as well.

Seabass

The seabass was fantastic as well, lots of different elements to dish. I liked - again - the criolla salad combination with the slight hint of spice (seriously so subtle). But the fish tastes great and as again, there’s a almost risotto-esque rice accompanying this dish.

Miso Brulee

The dessert is super pretty - the miso brulee. Although, in my opinion, I think that the appetizers are a bit more value for money. I think that the miso brulee was interesting - and it is paired with a combination of different flavours on that dessert platter.

Star Rating

8.5/10. Service was great, and the food was fantastic. I enjoyed all of the dishes I tried for their restaurant week offer and I think that this is a superb place to try for Dubai Restaurant week!
