Food Blog | KLCG Confectionery & Bakery | Jalan Ampang | Kuala Lumpur
Have had my eye on this one for quite a while. I think that this is in a similar category to Lacher Patisserie - with the addition of some proper lunch options. In short, I think it is a really nice spot to hang out and have a chat, with very nice pastries and drinks to complete the vibes!
Is it Halal
They are working on Halal status, but at present, they haven’t announced that they are Halal certified yet. Their website does mention that their ingredients are halal certified with chefs and bakers from Muslim backgrounds. But as always, use your own discretion pertaining to this.
Where it Is
The branch I visited is over at Jalan Ampang and I will say that both the parking situation and the queueing situation is quite extreme. If you’re going with multiple people, I would generally recommend trying your luck with their internal parking first. If full, drop off everyone else and park over at Pavillion Embassy. Parking can be a bit pricey, but I think that’s the nearest convenient parking in the area within 5 mins walking distance.
Important: Do scan the QR when you get there so you can get in line for a seat. It’s one of the reasons I would recommend dropping people off first if you’re going there with multiple people. They do have a waiting area up the staircase with seats, aircon, and self service water, so I do think that whilst you have to wait, it definitely is a comfortable wait rather than a really hot one.

What it Costs
I would say that the prices are fairly reasonable for the quality that you get - except maybe the croissant, which I’ll show below. And I would say the main reason why I even say that is because I think that the Pistachio Supreme is a lot more worth it at the same price. I would think most people will have two separate bills when they come here (remember, you get free water here). One will be for the QR code on the table - this is for drinks, main dishes, items from the kitchen - and one for the pastries that you will choose from their pastry selection.
Here’s what I had on my visit:
Pistachio Supreme | RM15.90
Roasted Almond Croissant | RM15.90
Mochi Fraisier | RM26.90
Tax | RM3.51
Pastry Total | RM62.60
Ajisai Fraisier Latte | RM18.90
Pesto Basil Pasta | RM28.90
Tax | RM2.83
Drinks + Kitchen Total | RM52.85
Basically, if you don’t keep track of the costs of both sides, you will be under the illusion that this is considered a cheap meal. I wouldn’t say it is THAT overpriced, but mentally you probably have to calibrate a bit for this.
Do note you can also get a free Polaroid for giving a Google Review! Just head over to their counter and they’ll help take the photo and print it out for you.
How it Tastes
I’ll start off with my favourite - the Pistachio Supreme. Maybe I had the expectation that it would be on the warm / hot side, so I was a bit surprised when this is one of those pastries that sit in the more dessert side of the spectrum. The pistachio flavour was strong and nutty, complementing the flaky pastry really well. The pistachio filling is almost like a fondant that you can’t stop eating once you start. If there is something that I would recommend you to try, it absolutely is this dish because it was really my favourite among everything I had on the day.
I don’t really have much to say about the almond croissant because if you talk about value, it does feel like the pistachio supreme is priced such that it isn’t worth it to get the almond croissant. I almost wish that the rich, nutty almond taste was a bit stronger for this one. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely is there, I just wish that the taste was a bit more pronounced.
The mochi fraisier was maybe a bit underwhelming considering it is sort of the signature dish from what I see from reviews online. It’s a bit hard to understand because aesthetically, there are definitely prettier dishes and the dish as a whole maybe fell a bit short of the high expectations I had for the dish. It’s not a bad dish by any stretch, just maybe not as worth. I definitely liked the outer layer of the mochi, but I always just got the feeling that this could have just been a mochi and I would have thought the same of it. The inner filling was nice as well, with the strawberry syrup. Worth a try still, since it is kind of a signature, but not particularly something I would personally recommend.
The Pesto Pasta is probably something I would recommend. Really rich in flavour and a nice pasta that really works well together. I really liked the fried mushroom that they used to accompany the pasta, adds a nice little bit of crunch and flavour to the dish. From what I see, they do seem to have changed their choice of pasta noodles - as previously, it did seem like spaghetti was the choice of pasta previously, whilst they seem to have changed it to a rigatoni pasta.
The Ajisai Fraisier Latte is their version of a Strawberry Matcha Latte if you’re wondering which item it is on the menu. Not the prettiest cup of Strawberry Matcha I’ve seen - normally you get to see some nice colours mixing when you have the strawberry and matcha coming together, but taste-wise, not overly sweet and the strawberry and matcha work well together to make a nice drink overall. Can recommend.

Star Rating
7.5/10. Overall, a solid place to visit. Fairly reasonable price for what you’re getting, food is generally really good here - I don’t have any gripes with what I ordered. Naturally, a very pretty location but just a bit inconvenient in terms of parking and waiting time if you come during peak hours.
