Food Blog | Bai Gra Pow | Bangsar
This is a new Thai spot in Bangsar that I would say is on the more reasonable end price wise. Been seeing it on Instagram here and there, so I thought that I should pay it a visit! I think that their lunch set options are actually really good - unfortunately this is me sharing their a-la-carte menu as I visited on a Sunday afternoon.

Is it Halal
They are not halal certified, but they claim they don’t serve pork or lard. If you are concerned about halal status, then it would depend on how tolerant you are regarding actual certification, do check with the staff if this is something you are concerned about.
Where it Is
It is located near Bangsar Village 2, in the direction of Kayu Nasi Kandar. You can take a right at Kayu and you will find on that row of shops. If you come early, you will be able to find street-side parking in the area surrounding, but around lunch time…. tricky. You’re most likely not going to be able to find parking in the area, so I would probably recommend you park inside Bangsar Village II. A friendly reminder as well to bring an umbrella just in case the skies are gloomy too, as you will need to walk a bit without shade.
Address: 10 & 10A, Jalan Telawi, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
Operating Hours:
Daily: 11am to 11pm (No rest day)
(Their set lunch runs from 11am to 3pm on Weekdays)
The set lunches over at Bai Gra Pow look really worth it!
What it Costs
As mentioned before, we had the a-la-carte menu. I really think that the value is there in their lunch sets! For RM22.90 you can get pandan chicken, salad, and a drink / dessert of the day with the set! Their tom yum set actually looks really yum!
Here’s what the two of us ordered:
Soft Shell Crab Curry Chicken with Rice | RM24.90
Pad Gra Pow Chicken Mama Noodle | RM18.90
Service Charge (10%) | RM4.38
Total | RM48.20
Their signature is actually the Soft Shell Crab Curry Chicken dish alone. They have a big version of the dish for RM38, so I think it really depends on if you intend to get a couple of dishes to share or just want individual portions.
How it Tastes
Naturally, as a curry fan, I probably favoured the soft shell crab curry. I do think that their curry is quite eggy - almost surprisingly so. It almost makes the sauce a bit thick in nature, but it was something that I actually liked. Their chicken and soft shell crab has this almost surprisingly crispy component (I was particularly surprised by the crispiness of the chicken, the soft shell crab was really nice too).
Bai Gra Pow Soft Chell Crab Curry
In many ways, I think it is this mix of chicken and crab that allows them to price it like such. As again, I need to stress - both this and the bigger of the dish are a MIX of crab and chicken.

Their noodles was actually surprisingly really nice and flavourful. I was expecting nothing much more than mee goreng, but it was salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and a really unique flavour profile that I didn’t see coming. Flavours are strong and I really liked the aromatics that they added to the dish. I think it would definitely be a hit or miss for some.
Mama Noodles with Bai Gra Pow Chicken
I think those that want to avoid the stronger, unhealthier flavours should definitely avoid this dish. It’s definitely flavours on steroids, with what feels like a lot of seasoning. I love it, but I understand why this might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Star Rating
7/10. A solid place with a lot of promising dishes. Looks great for events, with even a musical stage in the middle of the second floor. Comfy vibes and great food.
