Roundtable Putrajaya Review: Is the Glasshouse Café Worth the Drive?
If you’re looking for a scenic spot for a cafe brunch, then I think it would really be hard to beat this new spot in Putrajaya. Roundtable is a beautiful park pavilion cafe decked out in floor-to-ceiling glass walls, giving every table a beautiful view of lush greenery all around. Because it's right next to Pulse Grande Hotel Putrajaya, parking is pretty easy (and free!).
Halal Status
At this moment in time, they are not halal-certified, but they are definitely Muslim-friendly. There is no pork / no lard on their menu, and I do believe that they are Muslim-owned - though I can’t confirm personally. Do just check with them directly if you have any concerns pertaining to this.
Where it Is
It is located right next to Pulse Grande Hotel Putrajaya. There’s a huge parking lot between the cafe and the hotel (parking is free!), so I think this is a nice and easy spot to get to on the weekend. The only thing I would highlight is that I do foresee that there may be a bit of a queue if it does become a bit more popular (I do generally think it is quite nice, so I expect the crowds to get bigger). It is located in Taman Putra Perdana - and you can walk around for a bit in the park as it is quite a scenic walk (if you don’t mind walking a bit further), giving you a view of Putra Mosque and Putrajaya Lake. I would, however, not recommend coming here if it is raining. But it really is a beautiful when the sun's out! They have two separate dining areas. One small main dining area where you can take a look at their cakes and another side area that is just as comfy.

What it Costs
One thing I would highlight is the fact that you actually have to pay at the counter once you make your order via QR - which I think is slightly strange. Normally I would say the practice is more so to pay after the meal, but I digress. I would say that the price is probably slightly on the higher end of what you’d pay for cafes - although I say this with the caveat that all their prices on the menu are nett - meaning that there are no additional taxes on top at this moment in time. They do have some significantly more expensive options such as their steaks and fish options. On the day I was there, quite a number of their dishes were already unavailable (including their signatures - which is weird, considering I was there at noon). Note - they also don’t have free plain water.

How it Tastes
I think that overall, both dishes I tried are classic dishes that make for a very nice catchup / date with friends. This is definitely one of those spots that I would recommend for a longer catchup - although I do know from the Google Reviews that on certain days, there may be a longer queue to get into the restaurant itself. For me, the food quality isn’t really the thing I would complain about. It is definitely more about the price and whether it is worth it, and partially on the service - as it can be quite difficult to flag down a staff member at certain times, as well as having to go to the counter to pay. For me, it almost feels like a payment system probably should have been incorporated directly within the order system. Anyway, onto the food.
For me, I really liked the pasta. I really liked their choice of using a farfalle pasta within their pesto dish, as it really soaks up the sauce really well. The pasta was cooked really well and I really liked that their pesto sauce was very flavourful but not overpowering. I think that the incorporation of using these bits of pumpkin was interesting too.
The burger is seriously yummy. The highlight is definitely all about the CRUNCH. It is super crispy and accompanied by an appetizing sauce. Not to be outdone, the fries are solid and crispy as well - to the point that they are tasty without any other sauces. There’s a salad to complete the meal as well, so I would say that this is quite a complete burger set! That’s why whilst I acknowledge that their prices are a bit higher, I can just about justify it because they’re offering good food and a great ambiance.
Star Rating
7.5/10. The star of Roundtable is definitely the ambiance and surroundings. It really is something quite difficult to beat in KL / PJ. A beautiful backdrop and pleasant environment - including the fact that you get free parking easily here. The food is probably the second thing that would be the attraction for me. The service and the price are so-so. But ultimately, it is a spot that I would recommend if people are looking for a nice lunch spot!
