With an almost members-only vibe, Maguro Father is a relatively new (opened December ‘22) Japanese place that you really wouldn’t even know if you didn’t intentionally go looking for it. Serving up fresh Japanese food, this is definitely a place to go to get your Japanese food fix!

Recently just got back from my trip to London and Amsterdam, so I’m excited to share with you guys the food that I got on my trip there! The first on my blog: Engawa! This was the spot that I brought my girlfriend to for her birthday lunch.

Nobu Dubai is absolutely fantastic. Fantastic to the point that you can suddenly pick out weak points in other highly rated restaurants - and that’s why I had to make it a point to make a blog post about it (normally, I would tend to avoid restaurants that have a high volume of customers).

I really love writing about brunch offerings because there’s so much to talk about! This post will go into the brunch offering (or “Buranchi”) of Reif Kushiyaki! This is a multi-award-winning restaurant by Chef Reif Othman (a Singaporean). This restaurant is a recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand in Dubai for 2022, so I’m super excited to share their brunch offering with you guys!

I would say that a lot of the Japanese restaurants in Dubai are a bit more on the fusion side - namely Roka, Zuma, 3 Fils, & Goldfish (many more examples, but these are what pop into my head). I would say that 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant is probably up there in terms of being one of the more authentic Japanese cuisine spots in Dubai. Here’s what I thought of it!

Really excited to be sharing Akira Back with you guys this week! The price may be a bit on the steeper side, but the food at Akira Back really is oh, so delicious. There are seriously a lot of photos, so even if you’re not eating here, just stay for the pictures of the food (if you’re not too hungry right now!)

3 Fils is the super trendy spot in town right now, having won the top spot on MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2022. And it is absolutely deserved. The restaurant serves up super yummy food at a fairly reasonable price point that everyone can enjoy.

Up on the blog this week is one of the newer additions to the Dubai food scene - Sushi Samba @ St Regis! This is a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant that has already welcomed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sheikh Hamdan.

Today I’m sharing the sister restaurant to Zuma (which I blogged about previously) - a restaurant that I’m a big fan of. I would say as a straight comparison, Zuma is the more upbeat place with everything happening quickly and Roka is the more cozy/comfy place.

A humble spot for Asian food at a cheaper price point is none other than Daikan, with their assortment of ramens and titbits.

Kimura-ya is a Japanese Izakaya-style restaurant with a very wide menu and a casual atmosphere. Overall, I would say that this is a really cozy restaurant providing an authentic Japanese dining experience.

Eating with my girlfriend in KL usually means more Japanese food, so this is what ends up getting on my blog… more Japanese food. But this is one that I’m pretty happy to share with you guys: Nippori Cafe!

Bringing yet another Japanese restaurant to you guys today and it is Kirishima Shuzou, a somewhat hidden gem in Johor Bahru for Japanese food lovers!
