Food Blog | Goodbox Korean Restaurant Horizon Hills Nusajaya

Been exploring to find some new restaurants that I haven’t tried, and this is one that I have been wanting to try for the longest time. I actually saw this on Favepay, which is a really nice place to find new restaurants!

(As you guys know, I’m a big fan of Fave Pay for eating out. Use my referral code I19YC and you can get RM5 off your first purchase on the app. Not a sponsored post, but I do gain that same RM5 benefit into my account when you sign up, so it’s a win-win!)

Goodbox Korean Restaurant Horizon Hills

Is it Halal?

Sadly, this is a non-halal restaurant. It serves pork in a number of dishes. There are dishes like chicken tonkatsu, etc. but do eat at your own discretion if you are worried about this.

Lots of free side dishes! (I guess it depends on whether you see it as part of your main dish’s price XD)

Where it Is?

Goodbox is located in Horizon Hills. This means that you have to get past the main security and find the row of shops inside. Lots of parking available and it is a pretty bright shop lot, so it should be quite easy to find. There’s Jojo’s Ice Cream nearby - which I’m quite a big fan of - as well as a few small healthy grocery marts.

What it Costs

I am saying this with the preface that whatever prices you see on the menu are bloated by free Korean service. Whilst it doesn’t seem like your usual Korean bbq with lots of side dishes, IT IS. So I feel that is the main explanation as to why some menu items are a bit on the expensive side.

Me and my girlfriend had a meal here coming up to RM48.90, and this is actually really cheap in mind all things considered. I had a pork tonkatsu (RM26.90) and my girlfriend had their bibimbap (RM22). No additional taxes, meaning that with Fave cashback I also get 10% of my money back on my next visit - RM4.90!

Honestly pretty worth if you add in the fact you have great service, free water, free wifi (ask the waiters for the password) and lots of really nice side dishes!

Tonkatsu Goodbox Korean Restaurant Nusajaya

How it Tastes

Starting off with the side dishes. You have a soup (a bit like miso but you don’t have the saltiness and thickness of a normal miso soup) and side dishes including kimchi, a potato salad and even japchae! Not to mention they give you their take of a small pajeon as well (a bit more hardy texture, like in between a normal pajeon and a potato chip).

All pretty nice.

Next up, you have my choice of main, their pork katsu. This is another one of those dishes that has a lot of things accompanying it. It has a salad with a delicious dressing! (I’m so sick of places which serve Kewpie dressing, for all those that read my blog more frequently) It also has 2 carbohydrates - which I guess a lot of us, as Malaysians would appreciate - macaroni and rice.

The pork katsu is actually pretty nice - especially considering most places that sell tonkatsu itself are normally really specialised, big restaurants. This one actually has the nice crisp texture and delicious bite when you eat it. Not to mention they have a mean tonkatsu sauce as well. So this was a main that I actually really enjoyed!

Bibimbap Before

Bibimbap Before

My girlfriend opted for a more classic bibimbap. What I’ll have to say is that comparing alongside other experiences, like that of my review of Korean Oven & Fried Chicken Eco Botanic, makes me appreciate this restaurant further. Everything comes piping hot, so this was actually really nice to eat.

Bibimbap After

You might need to pile in their gochujang in order to really have the flavour in this meal, but this is a nice bowl of Bibimbap that I think most people would appreciate.

They’ve got quite a big menu - I actually wanted to try other things like their Omurice, etc. so I’ll definitely update this post if I go back to Goodbox!

Star Rating

7.5/10. A solid 7.5/10. Does all the basics well, has splendid service and a lot of things that are done well. Do come here when you need a full meal, because this place WILL fill you up!
