Food Blog | 回味锅 Tasty Hotpot | Eco Botanic

Today I have something that I’m pretty excited to share with you guys! The best way I would describe it would be that it’s probably the closest experience I’ve had to Haidilao… like ever. And the fact that you can find it in Eco Botanic just makes it fantastic!

Tasty Hotpot Eco Botanic

Context: Came here for dinner with my girlfriend. Please do note that this is definitely a more ‘atas’ option compared to the rest of the hotpot options in Eco Botanic.

Is it Halal?

This is a non-halal eatery serving up pork among it’s dishes. But there are ways to avoid those things, like going for the tomato base soup and just ordering vegetables + chicken/shrimp paste. But as always, eat at your own discretion.

Tasty Hotpot Sauce Selection

Where it is

It is located where Ying Ker Lou used to be (if you know the Eco Botanic area) or at the end of the row that houses Family Mart, Lemon Tree and Vanakam (on the Vanakam side). It should be pretty easy to find because it is right on the corner of the shoplots.

Address: 51&51A, Jalan Eko Botani 3/4 Taman Eko Botani Iskandar Puteri, 79100 Johor Bahru, Johor

Operating Hours:

Pork Belly Tasty Hotpot

What it Costs

This one needs the precursor that I’m not going to deny that it is pretty expensive. But in my opinion, you’re getting quality when you’re eating here. The bill for the two of us came up to be RM95.70. The breakdown is like this:

Pork Bone Soup: RM22
Tomato Soup: RM22
Pork Belly Set (Pork Belly + Vegetables): RM19
Prawn Paste (150gm) : RM18
Seafood Dumpling: RM6
Free Ice Cream per person, free water + sauces

You can only order soups in doubles (RM22 per soup in general) or fours (RM12 per soup in general).

But what I’ll say is that this is a REALLY clean place. As in the surroundings are really clean, you have so many utensils to cook and take food with and the spoons, cups and plates are even covered in plastic for you to open, so I need to stress this. This is a super clean place that I’m almost really happy to eat in current circumstances.

You can order via using the QR code by your table, or you can even ask for their iPad. You can ask them to switch it for the English menu and just make your order through that.

How it Tastes

The soups are tasty and actually taste pretty darn nutritious compared to the other hotpots in the area. I personally like the tomato soup! Lots of flavour in there, so I’m a big fan of the tomato soup!

The prawn paste actually can make you pretty full because there’s quite a lot of it. It’s the type where you have those squeezers and you squeeze it into the soup. I think that how 2 people should eat here is probably get the 2 soup set + the pork belly set and it is frankly enough. You can get the other stuff if you’re eating with someone who eats a lot :).

Tasty Hotpot Soup

A really big sauce section which I appreciate (I would say it is almost comparable, although slightly smaller) than the selection at Haidilao (if you know what that’s like).

Everything in general is actually pretty yummy and (I don’t know if this is the right word, but it definitely feels like it) pretty fresh! You get free ice cream too (my girlfriend got a durian one)!

Not to mention my stomach was very well the following day (which in hotpot experiences is considered a relative miracle for me). I highly recommend.

Star Rating

8/10. Easily the best hotpot in Eco Botanic in terms of quality that I’ve tried so far. The price might be a bit off putting, but this is a place where I would say it is pretty worth for what you’re paying. Everything is pretty yummy!
