Food Blog | Fiancée Cafe | The MET Corporate Towers | Mont Kiara
Nestled in The MET Corporate Towers, alongside other popular spots like Lacher, Niko Neko, and Fowlboys is Fiancée Cafe. A cozy and cool spot for you to satisfy your cafe hopping aesthetics with good food but maybe a hefty price tag. Here’s what I thought of Fiancee Cafe!
In this writeup, I’ve actually just got to know that this is actually a sister cafe of Second Date Patisserie - yet another very aesthetic cafe, albeit in a very different location.
Is it Halal
They claim to be Muslim friendly, so if you want the actual certification, you’re probably not going to get that here. But what I’ll say is that the menu does reflect that. There are some cafes whereby I see some dishes and I’ll be like wait - that’s not halal, but I don’t think that’s the case here. Just do check with the staff if that’s something that concerns you.
Where it Is
It is located over at The MET Corporate Towers, which is located somewhere between MITEC and Publika. I would probably recommend parking at The MET directly, even though pricing is probably on the pricier end.
Parking on the weekdays is free 1st hour, subsequent hour RM4, whilst it is RM5 per entry on weekends & public holidays.
Address: Lachèr Patisserie, LG 01-02, Menara The MET, Jalan Dutamas 2, Mont Kiara
Operating Hours:
Monday - Thursday | 8am - 8pm
Friday - Sunday | 8am - 10pm
What it Costs
I think that what you’ll see in this review will probably reflect the lower end of prices for two people. No drinks coupled with no desserts - which maybe you would opt for Lacher anyways, but their desserts still look pretty good.
Here’s what we had:
Fiancee Big Breakfast | RM38
Truffle Udon Cabonara | RM36
SST, Tax (16%) | RM11.80
Total | RM85.80
As usual, maybe it’s what you expect for it being in the Mont Kiara area, but it’s pricey - even compared to other cafes. I think the one that I can compare right off the bat is between the big breakfast here and at Oomph. For me, Oomph is not just better but cheaper as well, at RM33 per plate - but that’s more a testament to how much I like theirs rather than saying anything about Fiancee, which I’ll go into shortly.
How it Tastes
I probably will have to offer the caveat that you pay a big premium here for aesthetic. There’s no other way to skirt around this. It is a pretty cafe and all. I would probably describe this as a “First Date Cafe”. Good vibes overall with a lot of options and a nice environment for just talking - although there is that 2 hour time limit that I’m not sure how strictly they enforce on weekends.
I’ll talk more about the truffle udon cabonara, because that was the dish that I personally ordered. Really good. Just the right amount of truffle. Any more and it is too overpowering and heavy, any less and you might not catch enough of the flavour to be satisfied. It’s funny because it’s quite heavy, but you just want more and more of it! Really nice variant of truffle udon cabonara that I would definitely recommend (one of the signatures here).
Their big breakfast is - all things considered - still pretty good. Overpriced, yes. But quality is good overall. I do think it’s a bit small relative to a lot of other ones I’ve tried, namely Oomph and Belly and the Chef. They also opt for a mini pretzel which almost resembles a mantou for me, which I almost rather a croissant. Can’t really complain about the rest - I think everything is seasoned and cooked well, naturally the only small gripe is the price.
Star Rating
7/10. A lot of this rating is dependent on price and purpose. It’s not a place that I’ll frequent (probably not a place I would even revisit), but I sincerely think that this is one of those spots that is a great first date spot or a catchup after a long time. Lovely food and ambiance.
